{"id":10145,"date":"2017-08-04T12:32:52","date_gmt":"2017-08-04T12:32:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/agence-de-traduction.ch\/?page_id=10145"},"modified":"2017-08-09T07:05:46","modified_gmt":"2017-08-09T07:05:46","slug":"residence-permit-switzerland","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/agence-de-traduction.ch\/en\/study-in-switzerland\/residence-permit-switzerland\/","title":{"rendered":"RESIDENCE PERMIT"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>RESIDENCE PERMIT<\/h2>\n<div id=\"558234\" class=\" textBox\">\n<h3 id=\"deadlines\">Deadlines<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>You are required to register at the\u00a0Residents&#8217; registration office\u00a0in the commune where you live\u00a0<strong>within 14 days\u00a0<\/strong>after your arrival in Switzerland.<\/li>\n<li>If you are living in a\u00a0<strong>temporary accommodation<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>you must nonetheless report to the commune\u00a0<\/strong>where this temporary accommodation is located in order to start the process for obtaining your residence permit.\u00a0<strong>Remember to inform the post office<\/strong>\u00a0of your new permanent address as you could receive your residence permit by post.<\/li>\n<li>This also applies to\u00a0<strong>Swiss citizen\u00a0<\/strong><strong>coming from another canton<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It may take\u00a0some<strong>\u00a0weeks<\/strong>\u00a0to get your residence permit.<\/li>\n<li>If you have to go out of Switzerland and have not received your residence permit yet, please check your visa: if it is a &#8220;multi entry visa&#8221; and if you are in the deadlines, then you can go abroad and come back into Switzerland without any problems. If it is not a &#8220;multi entry visa&#8221;, you will need to ask for a new visa (<strong>return visa<\/strong>) to the\u00a0population office. This visa will be given to you directly at the desk on the same day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"608636\" class=\" textBox\">\n<h2 id=\"addresses-and-documents-to-bring\">Addresses and documents to bring:<\/h2>\n<div id=\"608699\" class=\" textBox\">\n<ul>\n<li><em>For\u00a0UE or AELE nationals<\/em>:<br \/>\n<strong>&#8211; Arrival\u00a0form<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><em>For non-UE or non-AELE nationals<\/em>:<br \/>\n<strong>&#8211;\u00a0Arrival report form<\/strong><br \/>\nand<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0<strong>Application form for a temporary residence permit for non-EC\/EFTA nationals for study purposes<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Passport<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Birth\u00a0<\/strong>or\u00a0<strong>origine certificate<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Marriage or divorce certificate<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>EPFL enrolment certificate<\/strong>. Enrolment certificates certificates can be printed out directly from your secured access of IS-Academia<\/li>\n<li><strong>3 passport photos<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Rental contract<\/strong>\u00a0where you are living in Switzerland or landlord attestation if you do not have a rental contrat (attestation templates are sometimes given on commune&#8217;s websites)<\/li>\n<li>For\u00a0<strong>european students<\/strong>:\u00a0A document proving that you have sufficient funding (<strong>2000.- CHF\/month<\/strong>) for your stay in Switzerland.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Scholarship holders\u00a0<\/strong>must provide an attestation of scholarship (document \u00abDeclaration of obligations\u00bb for students from the Swiss-European Mobility Programme). You will have the option to ask for a\u00a0tax exemption\u00a0if you benefit from a scholarship.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cash money<\/strong>\u00a0for foreigner students in order to pay your residence permit (the amount is depending on the commune and your arrival country, we advise you to take ~200.- CHF).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"608638\" class=\" textBox\">\n<h3 id=\"non-european-students\">Non-european students<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After your registration at the Residents&#8217; registration office, you will receive a letter from the Population office inviting you to go to the Biometric Center to proceed with the registration of the biometric data and thus finalise your residence permit.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Population office provides all the information (procedure, costs, etc&#8230; ) on this\u00a0document. Should you have any problems to get your residence permit, do not hesitate to contact them.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"useful-information\">Useful information<\/h2>\n<div id=\"608713\" class=\" textBox\">\n<h3 id=\"residence-permit-type\">Residence permit type:<\/h3>\n<p>There is no need to precise the type of permit needed, it will be given according to your situation. For information, as a student, you can receive:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Student permit: Permis B<\/li>\n<li>Student permit for short term (6 months): Permis L<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"608715\" class=\" textBox\">\n<h3 id=\"residence-permit-attestation\">Residence permit attestation:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The Residents&#8217; registration office\u00a0<strong>will provide you with an attestation<\/strong>\u00a0(while awaiting the official residence permit) which will allow you to open a bank account.<\/li>\n<li>However without a residence permit, you will not be able to leave the country temporarily (for holidays, a seminar, etc.).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"608717\" class=\" textBox\">\n<h3 id=\"extension-of-the-residence-permit\">Extension of the residence permit<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The permit is generally\u00a0<strong>issued from October to October<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>After one year<\/strong>, in August, a letter is sent by the authorities in order to explain how to proceed to get the extension if needed.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Proof of sufficient financial means\u00a0is required\u00a0<\/strong>for the extension of your residence permit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"608719\" class=\" textBox\">\n<h3 id=\"going-out-of-switzerland-temporarily-or-definitively\">Going out of Switzerland : temporarily or definitively<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Temporarily for holidays, internship, project abroad<\/strong>: If you inform the Residents&#8217; registration office about your departure without giving another home address in Switzerland, you will need, at your way back, to apply for a new residence permit and a new visa if needed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If you have to apply for a new visa (normal procedure) since your application has already been treated for your first request, the process will be shortened.<\/p>\n<p>How to proceed?<\/p>\n<p>1. Wherever you are, apply for a visa in the nearest\u00a0Swiss embassy.<br \/>\n2. Inform the embassy that you already had a visa and would like to go to Switzerland again.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>In any case, please contact the\u00a0population office\u00a0in order to know if you can leave the country.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Definitively<\/strong>: During the last month of your stay in Switzerland, your are requested to inform the Residents&#8217; registration office about your close departure.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"611303\" class=\" textBox\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If your stay in another Canton is provisory, the Population office advise to keep the\u00a0<strong>principal address<\/strong>\u00a0in canton de Vaud and to take a\u00a0<strong>temporary address\u00a0<\/strong>in the other Canton. It is very long and complicated to change of Canton if it is for a short term.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">To keep your principal address if you do not live in Canton de Vaud:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ask in your commune of residence if you can have an\u00a0<strong>administrative addres<\/strong><strong>s<\/strong>. Not all communes do accept it but it worth it to ask.<\/li>\n<li>Ask a friend if you can register with him\/her in his\/her house. In this situation you will have to register at the Residents\u2019 registration office of the commune of your friend.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is important to inform your first commune of residence that you have a temporary address in another canton.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">All occupancy taxes and insurances will be linked to you principal address.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the Canton where you are doing your internship you will have to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>inform the Residents\u2019 registration office about your temporary address<\/li>\n<li>be sure that the company where you are doing your internship declares you at the working department.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/agence-de-traduction.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Swiss-flag.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-6220\" src=\"https:\/\/agence-de-traduction.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Swiss-flag.gif\" alt=\"Residence permit\" width=\"304\" height=\"204\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RESIDENCE PERMIT Deadlines You are required to register at the\u00a0Residents&#8217; registration office\u00a0in the commune where you live\u00a0within 14 days\u00a0after your arrival in Switzerland.
